Not Necessarily Behind!

How I laugh at those who have chosen to jump upon the new-school bandwagon without looking where that bandwagon is heading! cliff with a severe drop that says “woops”at the bottom in big red letters.) I am talking, of course, about those who have recently purchased a new-fangled iphone, Blackberry or Galaxy S Phone. Why do I laugh? The answer, if you have sat next to someone on the train recently who owns one – or if you own one yourself – should be plainly obvious: although these phones look incredible and have many “apps” and what not, they can’t compare with the simplicity of my ten year-old trusty Nokia phone, and here is for why:

1) My Nokia phone, though crap-looking and lacking one tenth of the features of a new-fangled, is practically unbreakable. Yes people: I can chuck it at a brick wall, drop it from a building of great height and even have it run over by cattle (this recently happened and my, did it require some cleaning afterward…). What can you do with your new-fangled, then? I witnessed a man sneeze on his yesterday on the train and the machine could not hack it. Thus my point is made.

2) My Nokia phone, though lacking any sense of style or fashion, is simple and easy to use. It does what it needs to, and it doesn’t “crash.”

3) My Nokia phone, though with terrible reception and many other problems – such as that you have to stand perfectly still to be able to use it – has big buttons which even a gorilla could use, whereas your new-fangled is designed only to be used by those with children’s fingers. And I believe that seals the deal people. Yes, I am stuck in the olden days of mobile phone technology, but that does not mean that I am necessarily behind!
